Its deniminatin derived from the semetic root means “holiness”, e.i “Sacred valley “. Listed since 1998 on the World Heritage List, further to Baalbek, Byblos, Tyre, Anjar and the forest of Cedar’s of God, it is one of the deepset and most beautiful valleys in Lebanon, the bosom of Qadisha River stemming from a cave located at the foot of “Cedar’s of God” overlooking “El Korna El Sawda” , the highest summit in Lebanon, constituted an amazing legend. The caves and shelters of the Wadi were turned into churches and monasteries inhabited by monks and hermits and solitary persons.
